Extended Jewish Budapest – full day tour

This tour is for all those who are interested in the Jewish history more in-depth and happy to spend a day for seeing Jewish sights all around in Budapest.

This tour includes all the highlights mentioning in the half day Jewish tour, and additionally several other options – you can choose according to your interest in advance or on spot during your tour.

  • Learn about the Medieval Jewish history. Walk around the Castle District and visit the still standing Medieval Synagogue. (Interior visit only from May 1 till Oct 30),
  • Visit the Old Buda Synagogue,
  • Visit the Frankel Synagogue in Buda, located hidden in a Courtyard of a building
  • Walk in the former “international ghetto” area which is today upper middle class residential district of Pest. See the Wallenberg Memorial, Giorgio Perlasca Memorial etc..
  • See where the infamous Eichmann lived in Budapest, where was the Gestapo headquarters or the Railway Station from where the transports left Budapest
  • Learn about the Kastner story – the “bloods for goods”
  • Visit Csorsz str Jewish cemetery with the famous Rabbi Koppel Reich zcl. grave sites.
  • Visit the Kozma Str cemetery, which is one of the largest in Europe, is well-known for its unusual monuments and mausoleums. Here you can find sculpted human figures decorate the grave and mausoleums designed in a variety of styles, for example in art nouveau.
  • See the present Jewish life in the Jewish Cultural Center or visit Jewish Schools, Jewish Kindergarten or the Israel Culture Center of Hungary.
